Starting 21st February 2022
Introduction to Watercolour Techniques for Beginners
As a professional artist specialising in watercolour painting for over 30 years Ruth has developed three programmes for both beginners and more advanced painters. These courses offer a variety of traditional and exploratory watercolour techniques which are interesting and exciting to use.
In these classes, she often introduces found objects making marks with leaves and twigs, experimenting with inks, Gesso and 'Brusho', granulation medium and salt.
She runs these courses in small groups both in-person in Lewes at various locations and online via Zoom.
Do get in touch if you are interested in finding out when more groups are running.

Ruth will be offering some painting days out over the warmer months at Piddinghoe pond in Sussex where participants will have the opportunity to explore painting in the beautiful Sussex downs landscape. The ground is uneven at Piddinghoe so care does need to be taken when walking around this delightful site. Dates will be added here or contact Ruth for more details.

In these classes Ruth provides ongoing assistance to painters keen on developing their artistic skills. It is suitable for anyone with a little experience or who may have participated in the Introduction to Watercolours course.
Demonstrations in the class vary from week to week and may include experimenting with textures,
painting, printing and drawing using ink, clay, crayons and found objects like long sticks.
Participants can also follow their own path and bring in work they wish to explore themselves and gain advise and guidance from Ruth.
Ruth encourages a focus is on savouring the experience and process of creativity.
